Kurds outraged by Turkish air strike

Istanbul has seen mass protests over the death of 35 Kurds in a special military operation, ITAR-TASS reports.
The Turkish Air Forces attacked a group of 50 people crossing the Turkish-Iraqi border at the Shirnak Province. 35 people died, one was injured. The group contained teenagers. The military were holding a counter-terrorism operation, but the killed people turned out to be smugglers transporting diesel fuel and cigarettes from Northern Iraq.
Emir, delegation arrive in Istanbul

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani arrived yesterday evening in Istanbul, Turkey, for a two-day visit during which he will participate in Turkey Innovation Conference.
HH the Emir was received upon arrival at Ataturk International Airport by Istanbul Deputy Mayor Emin Golak, Qatar’s Ambassador to Turkey Abdul Razaq Abdul Jalil and Turkish Ambassador to Qatar Emre Yunt. HH the Emir is accompanied by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and an official delegation.

Police shoot Istanbul gunman dead

A Libyan gunman wounded two security guards Wednesday at one of Istanbul’s top tourist attractions before being killed by police after an hour-long shootout, authorities and local media said.
The man entered the Topkapi Palace on the banks of the Bosphorus Strait and began firing in all directions with a pump action shotgun, NTV television quoted Istanbul police chief Huseyin Capkin as saying.
“With his weapon he began to fire everywhere,” he said.

Iranian cinema discussed at Istanbul meeting

Tarik Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center in Istanbul hosted the session “Iran’s Cinema of Today” on Thursday as part of Iran’s Film Week now underway in Istanbul.

Turkish resort targeted by suicide bomber

An explosion outside a gendarme station rocked Turkey’s popular Mediterranean resort region of Antalya Friday afternoon. A local government official told CNN one man who appeared to be a suicide bomber was killed in the blast.
The official from Antalya’s Goynuk municipality, where the explosion took place, asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media. The official said at least one person was slightly injured in the explosion.
2nd D8 ministerial meeting to be held in Istanbul

The meeting will discuss building joint automobile, adopting special policies on energy and environment, standard of foodstuff and joint petrochemical projects.
The event will also seek to provide an opportunity for member states to exchange their experience, facilitate trade among them and promote trade of steel within the group.
The first round of the event was held in Iran two years ago.
